Six-time Grand Slam champion and World No. 3 Iga Swiatek advanced to the quarterfinals of the WTA-1000 clay-court tournament in Rome, Italy, after a commanding straight-sets victory over four-time major champion Naomi Osaka.


In the fourth-round match on Monday, Swiatek (4th seed) defeated Osaka (15th seed), who is ranked 16th in the world, with a score of 6:2, 6:1.


The one-hour-and-22-minute contest saw Swiatek fire three aces, commit one double fault, and convert 6 of 13 break points. Osaka recorded two aces, three double faults, and converted one break point out of three opportunities.
Swiatek’s next opponent in Rome will be World No. 5 Jessica Pegula (5th seed) of the United States.
