
CB Zamora concluded their involvement in the preliminary round leading to the Tercera FEB promotion phase with a tight 71-68 loss to CD Base of Segovia. The blanquiazul reserve team had also dropped their previous two matches, falling 76-54 to Aldeamayor and 75-68 to Palencia.
Aldeamayor secured the top spot and the right to compete for promotion after defeating Palencia 90-69 at the Manuel Camba on the same day.
Zamora’s reserve side played a highly competitive game against Segovia’s CD Base. They started well but trailed 15-6 at the end of the first quarter. The visitors closed to 17-14, but a strong push from their opponent gave them a 30-24 lead, which expanded to 35-24 after two scoreless minutes before halftime.
CD Base came out strong in the second half, maintaining a double-digit advantage and extending it to 50-36. The fourth quarter began at 59-44, and from there, CB Zamora mounted a comeback with a 12-0 run, first narrowing the gap to 61-60 and then tying the game at 66.
With two minutes remaining, the score stood at 69-66. Two successful free throws by Zamora reduced the deficit to just one point. They quickly fouled, and CD Base made only one free throw. At 70-68, CB Zamora had eight seconds to score but a turnover in the pass allowed CD Base to sink the final basket for a 71-68 victory.
