Barcelona hosted their arch-rivals Real Madrid in the La Liga Clasico on matchday 35. The Catalan side took an early lead, scoring two goals in the opening stages of the first half. Marcus Rashford opened the scoring with a brilliant direct free-kick, before Ferran Torres doubled the advantage.
According to statistics network Opta, Rashford’s goal was Barcelona’s third direct free-kick against Real Madrid in all competitions in the 21st century. The previous such strike came in October 2012, also in La Liga at the Camp Nou, scored by Lionel Messi.
