Everyone has put their foot in their mouth at some point, and Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Taylen Green nearly did just that when discussing his playing style. After the Browns selected Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft, they added Green in the sixth round of the 2026 draft. During a rookie minicamp interview with Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot, Green was asked which quarterback he most resembles. His response came dangerously close to comparing himself to Baltimore Ravens superstar Lamar Jackson.

“I would say of course Lamar (Jackson), but he ain’t 6-[foot-]6. Josh Allen is close, but I’m 230. He’s like 260. My dad says Randall Cunningham-ish. I really don’t think there’s anybody like me. Not in a like cocky [way] or anything, just some confidence. There’s nobody that moves like me, that’s as tall as me,” Green said.

While Green was clearly focusing on his physical traits and unique skill set, mentioning Jackson’s name immediately raises the stakes. Jackson is a two-time NFL MVP, three-time First-Team All-Pro, and one of the most electrifying players in league history. Even an innocent comparison can draw scrutiny, especially among Ravens fans.

Green’s confidence is understandable given his rare athletic profile. At 6-foot-6 and 230 pounds, he ran a 4.36 40-yard dash and posted a 43-inch vertical jump. In college at Boise State and Arkansas, he threw 59 touchdowns and 35 interceptions while rushing for 35 scores. However, he went 24-22 as a starter and has yet to play an NFL snap.

For now, Green must compete with Deshaun Watson, Gabriel, and Sanders just to earn a roster spot. Until then, any talk of matching Jackson’s greatness remains purely theoretical.
