NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith said on his show that LeBron James has already proven his greatness and could consider retirement, especially given the Lakers’ slim chances of winning a title in the near future.
“23 seasons. His greatness is beyond question. He’s already on the Mount Rushmore of basketball,” Smith stated.
“People keep saying, ‘He’s got nothing left to prove!’ Well, if you’ve got nothing left to prove and you know the Lakers aren’t going to win anything anytime soon—because OKC, San Antonio, and Minnesota aren’t going anywhere—then what’s the point? The Lakers’ championship dreams? Forget it! You’ve got nothing left to prove. Retire! Just retire. It’s an option.”
